Southern Oncology Clinical Research Unit (SOCRU) is a leading Phase One cancer trial unit based in Adelaide, South Australia, recognised for its unwavering commitment to advancing cancer treatment through innovative research and exceptional patient care. Our multidisciplinary team includes highly skilled oncologists, research coordinators, nurses, and research staff, all working in collaboration to offer participants the opportunity to partake in cutting-edge first-in-human (FIH) clinical trials while receiving the highest standard of evidence-based care.

Under the leadership of our reputable Directors with extensive expertise in oncology and clinical research, our unit prioritises patient safety, comfort, and well-being. We are deeply committed to creating a compassionate, supportive environment where every participant is treated with respect and dignity throughout their journey.

Our research is conducted with the utmost integrity and in full compliance with Australian regulatory standards, including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Guidelines, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) requirements, National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSHQS), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). This commitment to excellence ensures that every trial is conducted with precision, transparency, and the highest ethical standards.

December 2019

Establishment of SOCRU

SOCRU was founded by our directors to provide cancer patients in the southern region with access to phase one oncology clinical trials that were previously unavailable within local healthcare networks.

March 2020

First Study Activated

SOCRU commenced its first study, laying the groundwork for ongoing contributions to high-quality, patient-focused research.

August 2021

First GMO Study

We commenced our first genetically modified organism (GMO) study, expanding our research capabilities into advanced and regulated therapeutic areas.

July 2023

Partnership with the OMICO National Clinical Trials Network
