Our Facilities

Our dedicated Phase I unit provides the infrastructure and environment needed to safely deliver first-in-human and early-phase cancer trials.

SOCRU conducts trials within the state-of-the-art Southern Adelaide Biomedical Precinct, offering access to a fully integrated clinical and research environment.

Our facilities are purpose-equipped to support early-phase and high-risk oncology trials, with capabilities including continuous overnight monitoring, telemetry, advanced laboratory processing, diagnostic radiology, and on-site emergency care. This infrastructure ensures the highest standards of safety, responsiveness, and data quality for first-in-human and complex cancer studies.

Our facility includes:

  • A Day Infusion Suite with two chairs and one bed
  • A private consulting room
  • On-site laboratory
  • Secure data storage
  • Staff offices
  • Dedicated monitoring space for external monitors.

On-Site Laboratory

Our on-site laboratory is equipped to support the specialised requirements of early-phase oncology trials. Key features include:

  • –80°C freezers for biospecimen storage
  • High-speed centrifuges
  • Biosafety cabinet for safe sample handling
  • Secure storage for clinical trial kits.

Hospital

Our unit has direct access to hospital facilities essential for early-phase and high-risk oncology trials. This includes:

  • Day Infusion Suite with overnight monitoring
  • 24-hour telemetry and cardiac monitoring
  • Out-of-hours PK sample collection and processing
  • On-site radiology, biosafety level labs, ICU beds, and emergency care
  • Private consulting rooms

Specialist Vendor Partnerships

SOCRU collaborates with trusted specialist vendors under formal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure the reliable delivery of complex oncology trials. These partnerships provide access to expert services across pharmacy, pathology, imaging, and laboratory support:

Flinders University Pharmacy

Manages the storage, dispensing, and accountability of oral investigational agents, ensuring compliance with trial protocols and regulatory standards.

Royal Adelaide Hospital Pharmacy

Provides compounding and aseptic preparation services, including handling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for investigational products with stability >5 hours, suitable for off-site use.

Australian Clinical Labs

Supports timely and compliant safety blood collection and processing, including routine and protocol-specific assessments.

Bensons Radiology

Offers high-quality imaging and theranostic services to support trial diagnostics, response assessments, and advanced imaging needs.

Radiology SA

Delivers on-site imaging services and interventional radiology procedures, including intratumoural injections, essential for trials involving targeted delivery.

Flinders University

Provides access to PC2-certified laboratory facilities and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversight for studies involving GMOs, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe handling.
